What started as a young boy’s dream and a passion for birds, is now a successful park that is visited by thousands each year and has become a favourite attraction for families, tourists and animal lovers.

At the age of eight, Menelaos Menelaou started his own collection of birds, and over the years this has grown larger and larger. After training as a mechanic from 1979, he decided that the collection of birds as well as the experience and knowledge gained was enough for him to turn to a 2nd occupation.

In 1989, he left Strovolos and moved with his family to Ayios Trimithias. He brought with him his birds, which by this time had grown into a large selection. As there was plenty of space available, it allowed him to gradually start to increase the number of cages, the variety and quantity of birds and also animals to his business.

By 2000 he had the biggest collection of birds and also animals in Cyprus. This also meant that he needed to be dedicated to this job full time and thus Melios Pet Centre ltd was established.
