Caiman Crocodiles 22nd October 2010

Another incident was the 20 Caiman crocodiles which arrived from the Netherlands with all their necessary documents and the Department of Veterinary Services were notified by us of their expected arrival.

They were confiscated at the airport and killed because they first said that they are a forbidden type.
Yet after we stated in writing that they are not forbidden and that they are captive bred they changed their decision and announced to the media and to us that they killed them because we are not an approved establishment.
Not only did we have the appropriate area for this type but we also have in writing, documents of an inspection that was carried out on an aquarium by the senior officer that contained crocodiles and would have been the same aquarium that the new ones were to be placed.
